Have you ever just had one of those day’s where you’re trying to style your hair……but the style you desire is just not happening. You try over and over, only to end up frustrated…..and you’re pressed for time. Ughhhh what is one to do…..I decided to take the same approach I use when sewing. I let the fabric do what it wants to do. So I let the hair do what it wanted to do. This is what came out of it.

To create this simply mist hair with water and oil of your choice….I used vegetable glycerin and styling gel of choice (my preference Eco Style Gel with Olive Oil in the green container).

I section enough hair for the bang and clip aside for now. I use my product and style the hair into an updo using a banana clip. Now I use my products to style the bang, sweep it to the side and use Bobby Pins to secure it into place.

Versatile Protective Natural Hair Style Using African Threading

So a few days ago it was time to take down the hair style my daughter had last week which was this…….

African threading in the front, pulled up into a puff.

So now it’s time to take it out

Next her hair is washed, conditioned and finger detangled

My daughter has ALOT of Hair

Now its onto prepping the hair to be styled

Working section by section to style……here is the end result

When I was all done my daughter checked her self out in the mirror with the biggest smile……..which is success to a mother…lol.

This style should last 1-2 weeks.

Super Quick and Easy Natural Hairstyle

So I just wanted to share a quick natural hairstyle that only takes minutes. I did this style on freshly washed and detangled hair.

I simply did four Ghana Plaits/ African Threading in the front and gathered it all into a puff. It only took a few minutes a great style to last for the week. Needless to say my daughter was very pleased with her quick and cute new style. To learn the technique of African Threading aka Ghana Plaits check out my past post/tutorial here.

African Threading Natural Hair Protective Style

About 3 years ago my daughters an I went Natural and we did the big chop together. My girls were tired of perms…….so I said let’s go natural…..no more chemicals. Such a wonderful choice. So before I had us dive in I did my research.

After reading lots of material and watching many YouTube videos. I was ready but not sure if my girls were up for the big chop. Shockingly they were game and we did it together, which made it a even greater experience.

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago…..while on YouTube looking simple and quick protective styles. I stumbled upon African Threading. I have been eagerly wanting to give it a try. So last night I set aside the time. I absolutely LOVE THIS TECHNIQUE.
It’s a great way to stretch the hair and a wonderful way to do protective styling. I like it better than a twist out. I look forward to trying this again. For my first time it turned out pretty well.

Oh before I forget you can buy the thread at your local beauty supply store. It’s the same thread used to sew in weaves, which is also the same thread used on Serger Sewing Machine. I discovered this when I went to buy it at the beauty supply. So if you can’t find it at the beauty supply, check your local craft stores. Your craft stores will have more color options which will allow you to better match your hair color. The beauty supply only had black. Be sure that the thread is 100% polyester. You can get 3000 yards for around $3.00 give or take. It looks like this.
