Homemade Ground Turkey Helper

Hello all,

I had a request to make a homemade version of hamburger helper. This recipe was kid tested an approved. So now it’s time to share it with you.

Ingredients:

2 pounds of ground turkey (or Chicken or Beef)
1 box of whole grain elbow pasta
1 (16 oz.)Bag of frozen corn
2 cloves of garlic finely chopped
1/4 Cup chopped basil
1/4 Cup chopped cilantro
1/2 tsp of garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, sea salt, cumin
1 Tbs flaxseeds (optional)
1 Cup of Shredded Cheese
1/4 Cup Cauliflower Puree
1/4 Cup diced onions
1/4 Cup of red, yellow and green peppers
1/4 Cup Organic Ketchup
4 Tbs of tomato paste

Directions:

In a small bowl combine flaxseeds, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, smoked paprika, black pepper and salt.

Boil 4 cups of water in a pot. once the water is at a boil add the elbow pasta until al dente and drain water. Set aside for now.

On medium heat, in a large sauce pan add the ground turkey. As the meat is browning, break up the meat as it cooks. Once all the pink is gone add your seasonings, corn, garlic, onions, green peppers, basil, cilantro and cauliflower puree. Stir to evenly combine. Now add tomato paste and ketchup. Stir to incorporate. Now add the cheese and stir to incorporate.

Once the cheese is melted and incorporated well. Add your elbow pasta to a large bowl. Add the meat mixture in the bowl and combine everything evenly.

Donuts Donuts Donuts

Hello all,

A while back a good friend of mine made some Donuts for my daughter’s using soda and cake mix. This then prompted them to ask……mom do you think you would ever make donuts?  I said sure I would love to make donuts from scratch, I just need to order a donut baking pan. So while online last week, I saw a cute heart shape donut baking pan. I thought this would be so cute…..and the girl’s will love it. It arrived pretty quickly, it only took 3 days. So, now that we have everything we need it’s time to get baking.

1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg

The glaze

¼ c. powdered sugar

Sprinkles

Directions:

Pre-heat the oven to 325° and lightly coat a donut pan with nonstick cooking spray.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.

In a large bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, vanilla, and oil.

Pour the dry ingredients into the wet, and stir just until incorporated.

Distribute the batter between the prepared donut cups, and bake at 325° for 8-10 min or until light golden brown. Cool in the pan for 2-3 min then place onto a wire rack to continue cooling.

To prepare the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, water, and almond extract. Dip the top of each donut into the glaze, and decorate with the sprinkles or whatever toppings you desire.

Oh yes before I forget here is the link to the heart shaped donut mold. The price was great and I just have to share when I find a really great bargain.

Be creative & enjoy.

Until Next Time,
