Easy Gathering Technique

Hello everyone,

Welcome To Thread It Thursday!!!

Today I just wanted to share the sewing technique I used to make this skirt I recently made for my mother.

I find that this technique is much easier than using a basting stitch.  There is no need to worry or deal with threads breaking as you gather…..especial if you’re using a fabric heavier in weight.

You can check out a previous post called the Designer Look For Less, where I used the same technique here.

My goal with this post is to share a tidbit that I have found useful and makes sewing a bit easier!

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by, I greatly appreciate it.

Happy Sewing & Until Next Time,

  1. What a wonderful tip to use when gathering. Thank you for the video… so simple…

Take care and I love how the skirt turned out… from Laura

  2. Hello,

The floral print on the fabric is delightful, I’m sure your mother loved it.

I’ve always used 2 basting stitches and then I hold my breath and say a silent prayer when I pull the threads to gather the fabric. It’s frustrating if the thread breaks 😀

Thank you for sharing this tip, easier, tried and tested techniques add more fun to sewing.

    Have a lovely day.

    • Thank you….my mother loves the skirt. The print was something different for her….she loves all thing’s preppy. Happy to share a time saving technique. Thank you for stopping by!! ☺ Happy sewing!
