Hello everyone,
Welcome To Thread It Thursday!!!
Today I just wanted to share the sewing technique I used to make this skirt I recently made for my mother.
I find that this technique is much easier than using a basting stitch. There is no need to worry or deal with threads breaking as you gather…..especial if you’re using a fabric heavier in weight.
You can check out a previous post called the Designer Look For Less, where I used the same technique here.
My goal with this post is to share a tidbit that I have found useful and makes sewing a bit easier!
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by, I greatly appreciate it.
Happy Sewing & Until Next Time,

Great skirt! But I’ll leave the sewing to your magical hands 🙂 !
Lol……your hands are magical too. You just don’t know it yet. 😉
For styling and cooking yes but for sewing…Would love how to sew Though! Thank you anyway!
Thanks for sharing. I will try this with my next project that needs gathering.
Thanks for stopping by. You will love this technique…..makes gathering a much easier and time saving process.
What a wonderful tip to use when gathering. Thank you for the video… so simple…

Hello,
The floral print on the fabric is delightful, I’m sure your mother loved it.
I’ve always used 2 basting stitches and then I hold my breath and say a silent prayer when I pull the threads to gather the fabric. It’s frustrating if the thread breaks 😀
Thank you for sharing this tip, easier, tried and tested techniques add more fun to sewing.
Have a lovely day.
Thank you….my mother loves the skirt. The print was something different for her….she loves all thing’s preppy. Happy to share a time saving technique. Thank you for stopping by!! ☺ Happy sewing!
Good idea! Thanks for showing us!
You’re welcome and thank you for stopping by!
