Hello everyone,
It’s Thread It Thursday!!!
At the beginning of the year. I made it my mission to try and overcome some of my sewing fears. This project entails one thing I have been afraid to tackle.
Well, readers, it wasn’t so bad after all. To be honest, it was great and easier than what I thought it would be. There was really nothing to fear at all.
My real issue is I just don’t want to ruin my project attempting thing’s I am not very experienced in….but how will I learn if I don’t try or push myself.
One of my sewing fears is making button holes……which means I had to use that really long button hole foot.
I decided to just go for it and let my fears/apprehensions go. It was well worth it!!! Because……
I love, love, love these pants. They are cute and comfortable. I can dress them up or down. Did I mention how comfortable they are?…..lol.
For the pants, I used Simplicity Pattern:
1428 View A
For this project, I used 2 1/4 yard of Dupioni from Hancock Fabric’s.
Black 1/2″ wide grosgrain ribbon from Dollar Tree.
I made the following alterations:
Cut 2 1/2″ off the length
1″ hem (turned hem under 1″ and then again 1″)
Did not add ribbon detail down the side of the pants. (I may try this next time with a different fabric.)
Took in each pant leg 1 1/2″ from the inseam starting at the knee to the bottom hem.
All in all this pattern was very easy to follow. I will certainly use this pattern more often. You can also check out the skirt I made using the same pattern here.
I was very happy that I tried a new sewing techniques that I had yet to try. Now, I just may tackle making a button down shirt!!!
I would love to know if anyone else has recently overcome any sewing fears??? Or if you have been sewing for years, share your story of what you had to overcome and how?

I love the pants! You are very brave, the only pants I have attempted were pajamas. They turned out fine, but I want to try leggings and maybe jeans. Jeans are my sewing fear. But your pants look so cute on you!😀
Thank you…..jeans are another sewing fear. I want to attempt them as well. ☺
Nice! Awesome job 😊
Thank you!!!! 😀
You look soooo COOL!
I love the pants, the printed fabric, sunglasses, hands-in-pocket pose, bold lip colour.
Practise makes you confident enough to master your fears.
Inserting Invisible zippers used to scare me a lot, then I learned that it was easier to attach the zipper by first basting by hand before using my sewing machine, and voila! I’ve become an invisible zipper champion.
Well done 🙂
Lol….thank you……I am learning to get comfortable taking pictures and putting them on the blog. That is a great tip for invisible zippers. I will certainly heed your advice. Thank you so much for your kind words and helpful tip. I greatly appreciate it!!! 😀
Fabulous.. styled well too..
Thank you very much!!!!
Love the print of your trousers! It matches very well with your shoes!
Thank you!!! 😀
very cool! perfect summer outfit!
Thank you!!! 🙂
Cute pants! I was ‘afraid’ of buttonholes for years as well. I would find all kinds of workarounds like snaps and ties (it was the seventies after all).
Good job jumping in!
Thank you…..yes I have been working around it for quite a while now. Happy I finally decided to jump in….it was easier than I anticipated!!! Thank you so much for stopping by!! ☺
I find in life that so many of the things we fear, really aren’t nearly as bad as we think. Its such a head game.
Thanks 4 linking up 2 Top of the World Style. I think they turned out great! Love the choice of the fabric too
Thank you ☺
