Taco Night in my house makes for a wonderful dinner time. My children are very pick eaters. So its hard for me at times to find balance. My goal is to provide nutritious meals that we can all enjoy as a family. In my opinion that is every mom’s goal. As mother’s we want everyone to enjoy dinner time without meltdown and feeling like a short order cook. We do not have the time to prepare individual meals for our children who are pick eaters. Well this is one meal that is a win, win.
Ingredients
3 pounds of ground turkey ( or beef)
1 Tbs of grape seed oil ( or oil of choice)
1/2 cup of diced onions
1/2 cup of diced green peppers
Taco shells
salsa
sour cream
Bag of salad
Cheeses
and what ever toppings your kids love
First we are going to make Taco Seasoning
For me I keep the following dry spices and herbs in my cabinet
I prefer to make my own Taco Seasoning because it taste great and does not contain lots of sodium. Best of all you save money and it’s really easy.
Taco Seasoning Ingredients
2 Tbs
1 Tbs of Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp of black pepper
1/4 tsp of cane sugar ( or granulated sugar)
1 Tbs of ground flax seed (optional)
Preparation
Dice your onions and green pepper so that you have 1/2 cup of each
In a small bowl combine the following
2 Tbs Paprika
1 Tbs Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Chili Powder, flax seed
1/2 tsp salt, black pepper
1/4 tsp sugar
Mix well and set aside.
Directions
In a pan add 1 Tbs of oil and place on medium high heat. Once the oil is hot add your ground turkey and cook until brown. Once browned add your onion, green pepper and taco seasoning and mix until everything is well incorporated.
That is it dinner is ready. I usually sit everything out on the table all the topping, so that the kids and adults can make it the way they want it. I serve with a salad and everyone is happy.
Just to mention you can do a lot of different things with your ground taco meat.
Taco Salad with crushed tortilla chips

Enjoy 😀
